vacation bible school
Hillside Community Church did their first vacation bible school to over 100 children for 4 days. The theme was "The Lost Pirates". The kids enjoyed learning new songs about God and how their treasure is in God's Word and not in worldly possessions. 22 children gave their life to Christ.
-
vacation bible school- crafts
Each day of vacation bible school there was a craft that taught more about Christ and how they are important. The children would learn bible verses everyday and taught the importance of having God's Word in their hearts and that God loved them.
-
vacation bible school- snacks
At the end of each day of vacation bible school the St. Lucian women would feed the children before they were taken back home. This is an important part to make sure that they children didn't go home hungry.
-
construction to elders home
One of the parishioners of the church had recently lost his wife to breast cancer. He had two teen-age sons. The team helped to put new windows in the house for ventilation and doors on the rooms so they could have privacy. They also extended out the living room so that all 3 of them could be in the living room at the same time to have family time.
-
Sunday evening service on beach
The last Sunday that the Hillside team was in St. Lucia they did the Sunday night service on the beach with a cook-out. This was a great time to fellowship with the community and build relationships that had developed. They all had time to reflect on the previous week and praise God for what he had done during the mission trip.
-
Worship on the Beach
During the Sunday night service on the beach, they spent a lot of time just worshiping and thanking God for all he had done. It was a very spiritual time as everyone could sing songs together and other locals on the beach were able to join in with the praises to our Heavenly Father. There is nothing like worshiping together as one.
-
Vacation bible school- lesson
Diana did a wonderful job giving the bible story lesson each day in a way only she could do. She was a pirate to go with the theme, and taught the children a story about Christ each day. She totally captivated the kids.
-
message on marriage
Steve gave a great message on stero-types and marriage. He walked through what a Godly marriage looks like and the need for Christ at the head of a marriage in order for a marriage to be successful.
